Why is it that Democrats remain so hard headed? You would think that the last election cycle would have been a clue bat.
Is it that they are so bent on a totalitarian government that they refuse to capitulate to the will of the people? I mean, what IS it? How in the heck can you see the loss of over 600 seats in government as "not being able to get our message out to the people"?

And STILL it goes on. In the lame duck congress, Harry Reid continues to push the DREAM ACT with no less than 4 versions of it that instead of going to any committee first, (like the judicial committee to make sure it's even legal)instead all get put on the calendar for a floor vote.
This childish tantrum needs to stop.
Nancy Pelosi has been told in no uncertain terms, by the citizens, that she's not wanted.
Her poor leadership, totalitarian rule instead of governance, has lead to the ousting of the Democratic party at a time when they controlled both houses and the presidency. They had the keys to the house, the combination to the safe and free run of the wine cellar. What did they do? They threw a frat party.
They wrecked the house and then blamed it on the brother that they locked in the closet when he threatened to call the parents.
Well, the parents are home children and there's going to be a reckoning.

The reality is this: The American people do not want a huge deficit. They want to pay what we owe and stop making such a huge debt in the first place.

Many say that instead of raising taxes, shrink the government. They want their rights back.
Many Republicans have heard them. Some just said they heard them to go to congress.
Those folks are going to get a rude awakening.

The earmark ban is a clarion call to congress. Stop spending our money.
For those Republicans who have given lip service, yet have embraced earmarks, know this; YOU WILL BE VOTED OUT!

This is MUST see type stuff. Apparently Mr. Tyner got excellent video/audio of what happened to him when he was pulled out of line and told he had to go through an x ray machine or submit to a sexual assault.
when he refused both and said that he'd be happy to go through the metal detector like everyone else, they sequestered him, harassed him some more and then told him to leave the airport under police escort.
When he managed to get his ticket refunded, another TSA goon accosted him and told him that if he left the airport he would be fined 10,000 dollars and a civil suit.

I have a question. If they're part of the federal government, how the hell do they sue someone in civil court? for what? refusal to fly? refusal to submit to an unconstitutional search?

there's even one part of audio where a TSA agent actually tells him that "when he bought his ticket he gave away all his rights".

I don't know about you folks, but I've actually read the fine print on tickets (too many long hours in the airport waiting for a flight). NO where in that ticket does it require you to give up your constitutional rights.

I was reading a post by Ann Coulter on the new rising stars of the GOP.
I noticed that she identified all of the new congressmen/women and Governors by their Race.
there was no malice. there was no hatred. It sounded like she was very pleased!
Now folks, keep in mind that these men and women aren't "tokens" of any kind. They'll be expected to lead and lead well! Their powers to legislate aren't fake. In short, they are Equals among their peers. Just the way the Constitution meant it to be.

Republicans added two magnificent new black faces to the Congress with Allen West in Florida, who beat sore loser Ron Klein 54.3 percent to 45.7 percent (with 97 percent counted, Klein wouldn't concede), and Tim Scott in South Carolina, who crushed Democrat Ben Frasier, 65-29.

Republicans also launched two new Hispanic stars this election: Sen.-elect Marco Rubio from Florida and the new governor of New Mexico, Susanna Martinez. And we got a bonus Indian – Nikki Haley, the new governor of South Carolina. MSNBC is still searching for the "Republicans are racist" angle in all of this.

While she may irk some of you folks, there's no denying the facts. All of these new legislators are exactly how she described them.
they are black or hispanic or indian. It's a part of who they are, just as surely as being a hairy fat guy is a part of who I am.

Yesterday, tens of thousands of Tea Party Protesters held attended rallies across this great nation… Not one was arrested.

Also yesterday… Leftist SEIU thugs held one rally in Ohio… 25 were arrested.
The Dispatch reported, via Instapundit:

A crowd of more than 100 protestors faced off against about 50 police officers yesterday afternoon at Ohio State University in an attempt to bring public awareness to the conditions of Sodexo food-workers at university sporting events.

The protesters marched across the Oval just before 3 p.m. yesterday. About 25 protestors sat down at High Street and 13th Avenue, but walked off the road when police tapped their shoulders.

“We negotiated this out in advance,” said Columbus Police Lt. Christopher Bowling. “Because they did not impede their arrest they didn’t resist we’re charging them with a misdemeanor fourth-degree disorderly conduct charge,” punishable by up to 30 days in jail and up to a $2,000 fine…

The protest caused a long backup of cars, particular in the southbound lanes of High Street, but traffic was starting to get back to normal by about 3:30 p.m.

The protest is part of a “smear campaign” against the firm by the SEIU in a bid to get the firm to exclusively negotiate with that union, said Sodexo spokeswoman Monica Zimmer.

“Sodexo respects unequivocally the right to unionize or not to unionize as they choose,” Zimmer said, noting that the company currently operates with 300 different union contracts.

Police put kibosh on disguised tea party protester

The Tax Day Tea Party in downtown Greensboro ran smoothly Thursday. Everyone sang the patriotic staple “God Bless the U.S.A.,” kids got their faces painted and the parched drank their Liber-Tea.

Well, there was one tiny glitch.

A man dressed in all black and a hood or mask came to the side of the stage by the old county courthouse while a person spoke and held up a sign reading, “Prosperity = White Supremacy.”

The crowd didn’t fancy the man’s sign and cast a round of boos in his direction. Pretty soon, three Greensboro police officers escorted the man away from the protest.

According to arrest reports, Daniel Emerson Stainkamp, 22, of 1602 West End Place in Greensboro was charged with wearing a mask or hood on public property, resisting a public officer, carrying a sign larger than allowed by a local ordinance, and interfering with the protest.

He was released from custody on a written promise to appear in court in May.

No hand-carried signs or poster transported in such parade shall be of greater density than eight-ply .030-inch thickness cardboard. No support for such sign or poster shall be of a metallic substance nor thicker than one (1) by three-fourths inches.

Starting this weekend and contiuing into next week, I will host a series of listening sessions across the 7th District. These will not be traditional town hall meetings, where a Member of Congress stands at the podium and tells you what is going on in Washington. Instead, I want to hear from you.

I want to hear what ideas you have for how we can do things better in Washington. I want to hear what concerns you have about the bills that we are working on. I want to know what you think is working in Washington and what you think isn't. More than anything, I think of these sessions as idea raisers, where we can work together to turn your good ideas into solutions in DC.

On a hill overlooking the Cadet Chapel and Visitor Center of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Tech. Sgt. Robert Longcrier is burning white sage, consecrating a circle of stones that will soon be used by cadets as a place to worship Mother Earth and the Horned God.

According to an official release from the Colorado Springs, Colo., university and air base wing, the chapel is adding this new worship area for followers of Earth-centered religions, including Paganism, Druidism and the form of witchcraft known as Wicca. The official dedication ceremony is tentatively scheduled for March 10.

Longcrier, who became Pagan shortly after arriving at the Academy in 2006, celebrates that the new worship circle represents an increasing level of acceptance of pagan religion:

"When I first arrived here, Earth-centered cadets didn't have anywhere to call home," he said. "Now, they meet every Monday night, they get to go on retreats and they have a stone circle. ... We have representation on the Cadet Interfaith Council, and I even meet with the chaplains at Peterson Air Force Base once a year to discuss religious climate."

The stone and earth circle is only the latest addition to a collection of worship spaces on the Academy campus, including Protestant Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Buddhist sacred spaces.

"Every servicemember is charged with defending freedom for all Americans, and that includes freedom to practice our religion of choice or, for that matter, not to practice any faith at all," says Lt. Col. William Ziegler, Cadet Wing chaplain. "Being in the military isn't just a job – it's a calling. We all take an oath to support and defend the Constitution, and that means we've all sworn to protect one another's religious liberties. We all put on our uniforms the same way; we're all Airmen first."

Longcrier had previously established a temporary worship ring in Jacks Valley, a 3,300-acre training complex on the campus that provides the ground for several forms of obstacle and cadet-training courses.

According to the Air Force statement, the stones that now form the inner and outer rings of the new worship circle once sat near the Visitor Center, but the 10th Civil Engineer Squadron moved the rocks to the top of the hill in spring and early summer. Elements of Longcrier's Jacks Valley ring will also be included in the new worship space.

Longcrier attests that the Academy's chaplains have supported his efforts in every step of making a space for Pagans to worship:

"There really haven't been any obstacles for the new circle," he said. "The chaplain's office has been 100-percent supportive."

Chaplain Ziegler added, "We want to invite the Academy leadership, the Cadet Interfaith Council, the news media and people from every religious background for the dedication ceremony. We want this dedication service to be another example of celebrating the freedom we enjoy as well as the freedom we, as Airmen, have pledged to defend."

Truth to power....

Someone straighten me out on this phrase please...what exactly does "speaking truth to power" mean?
Which retard thought this one up??

A little clarification for those who are too stupid to figure it out. Truth carries it's own power whether we speak it or not...kind of like a meteor falling from space..when it hits, it doesn't need YOU or ME to validate it's impact..the crater will do that just fine.

When I hear some idiot talk about "speaking truth to power" it's a sure bet that they're "progressive" and so stupid they couldn't boil water without burning it.

Usually it's either A.)some middle aged hippy chick who lives with either her parents or some friends or relatives, who can't hold down a minimum wage job because it gets in the way of her "vision for our country's future" or B.) it's some well to do trust fund baby who has never had an honest day's work in their lives.
They have causes in order to fit in to their social hierarchy so that it can be perceived that they have a job, when in fact, a REAL job would be the best thing in the world for them.
I mean, come on now, you don't see a middle class Guy who's got a 9 to 5 and 2 kids and a wife to look after speaking "truth to power", do you? He's too busy making sure Suzy will be able to get those braces..or trying to figure out what to get his wife for their anniversary because if he doesn't she'll never let him hear the end of it. They're too BUSY to come up with some kind of useless psychobabble bullshit turn of phrase to justify their lifestyle. They don't care about how they look at the finish line; as long as they were first. They work hard, MIND THEIR OWN BUSINESS and expect others to do the same. They're friendly but they're not there to change your world. If you need help, they'll do what they can, but they expect you to be grown up and responsible enough to take care of yourself or speak out on your own behalf and get the help you need.

Those folks who like to use the phrase "speaking truth to power" would do well to remember that "just because you repeat something, doesn't make it powerful or truthful."

The IPCC’s 2007 report, which won it the Nobel Peace Prize, said that the probability of Himalayan glaciers “disappearing by the year 2035 and perhaps sooner is very high”.

But it emerged last week that the forecast was based not on a consensus among climate change experts, but on a media interview with a single Indian glaciologist in 1999.

The IPCC admitted on Thursday that the prediction was “poorly substantiated” in the latest of a series of blows to the panel’s credibility.

The UN sure is taking it on the chin for all they lying they've been doing.

Let me set down a couple of fervent beliefs that animate everything I do and everything I say.

I believe that God created heaven and earth and every single individual on the planet.

I believe that the God who gave us life gave us liberty and that freedom is our birthright.

[b]I believe that the States created the federal government and not the other way around. And that the power that the States gave to the Federal Government – they can take back.

When we were colonists, and the King and the Parliament needed money from us, and they always seemed to need money, they devised ingenious ways to tax us. One of them was called the Stamp Act. The Parliament decreed that every piece of paper that the Colonists had in their homes; every book, every document, every deed, every lease, every pamphlet, every poster to be nailed to a tree had to have the King’s stamp on it. You think going to a Post Office is bad? You had to go to a British Government office and buy a stamp with the King’s picture.

Question. How did the King know that his picture was on every piece of paper in your house? The Parliament enacted a hateful piece of legislation called the Writs of Assistance Act which let the king’s soldiers write their own search warrants, and bang down any door they chose to look for the stamps or anything else that they were looking for.

It was the last straw.

We fought a revolution. We won the revolution. We wrote the Constitution. The constitution doesn’t grant power, it keeps the government off our backs.

When they were debating the Constitution in the Summer of 1787 in Philadelphia, there were two great arguments – one by the Jefferson and Madison crowd and one by the Adams and Hamilton crowd. Jefferson argued, though he wasn’t physically there in Philly, as he did in the Declaration of Independence that our rights are ours by virtue of our humanity. That as God is perfectly free, and we are created in his image and likeness, we too are perfectly free. The big government crowd – yes they had them even in those days – argued that you can’t have freedom without government, and that government gives us our rights, and therefore, that government can take them away. This is not an academic argument. Jefferson and the natural law argument prevailed because the Constitution was written to keep the government from interfering with our natural rights.

And so, your right to think as you wish, to say what you think, to publish what you say, to travel where you want, to worship as you see fit, to keep and bear arms to defend yourself against a tyranny. And, after the right to life, the greatest and most uniquely American of rights – and I say this in front of the seat of the government – is the right to be left alone.

We wrote a Constitution to ensure that the government would never interfere with these rights. Think about it – if rights come from the government, then the government, by ordinary legislation, or presidential decree can take them away. But if the rights come from our humanity, then unless we violate someone else’s natural rights, the government cannot take our rights away.

This is not just a democrat, upper case D, or a republican, upper case R, problem. It’s a problem with government today. There’s a republican version of big government just as assaultive to our liberties as there’s a democrat version of big government.

We fought a revolution because British soldiers could knock on our doors and demand that we house them, and demand that we turn over property to them because they could write their own search warrants. In the Patriot Act, the most hateful piece of legislation since the Alien and Sedition Acts, a republican congress and a republican president authorized federal agents to do the unthinkable – to write their own search warrants. And the republican administration didn’t even let members of the House of Representatives read the Patriot Act before they voted on it.

Why should the government be able to spy on us? We should be able to spy on them!

When some judge is rationalizing away our liberty, or some congressman is plotting to take away your freedom or your tax dollars, we should know what they do every minute that they do it.

I was speaking to a group of congressman from a neighboring state – I won’t tell you which state it was, but they don’t play football there – and they came up to me and said “this is the first time we have heard that the Patriot Act allows federal agents to write their own search warrants.” Remember, in the Constitution, we put in the 4th Amendment, the right to be left alone, to make sure that if the government had a target, no matter how guilty the target, no matter how widespread is the belief in the guilt of the target, no matter how dangerous is the target, the government has to go through a neutral judge with a search warrant before it can get to that target. These members of Congress said, “we didn’t know that the Patriot Act allowed the government to bypass the courts and write any search warrant they wanted.” Then I asked them a question I knew the answer to already – did you read the Patriot Act before you voted on it? The answer – no. What were you voting on? A summary we received. Let me guess who wrote the summary – some lawyers in the justice department, right? Of course.

Would you hire anybody to run your business that committed you to a violation of the very reason you’re in business if they didn’t even the document by which they were making that committment? Of course not.

The camera is the new gun. There’s nothing that government dislikes more than the light of day, and cameras recording what the government is doing, whether it’s on a street corner, or in there, or in Washington D.C., we have the right to know everything that they do and why they do it, and when they do it, and how they are taking our freedoms.

I have another one of my basic core beliefs. The individual has an immortal soul. Every individual is greater than any government.

Your government is based on fear and force. You don’t have to take my word on it. The 2nd president on the United States, John Adams, said “Of course the government is based on fear.” And the first president, George Washington, said “Government is not reason, it is force.” I think they knew what they were talking about.

Now fast-forward to modern times. Whenever the government wants something, it scares us. During the civil war, Lincoln tried civilians in this state where no battles occured, by military tribunal. After he died the supreme court invalidated everything the military tribunals did. During the first world war, the Wilson administration locked up 2000 people called anarchists – same thing as enemy combatants. No trial, no charge, just jail for the duration of the war. In world war II, FDR locked up 150,000 Japanese Americans, people born in the United States, who got no trial and had no charges, and when the war was over were given $25 and told to go home.

Today we have federal agents. You know I get in arguments with my friends at Fox News, and one of them, I don’t have to tell you who it is, but is truly the most irascible person there. And he said to me, you know you have a problem with Guantanamo Bay, and you have a problem with the Patriot Act, what will you do if I get sent to Guantanamo Bay, will you visit me? And I say, Bill – no, because they’ll probably keep me there as well.

Government likes to say that it’s taking an oath to uphold the Constitution. In the years that I was on the bench, it seemed that every time government lawyers were in my courtroom, if the government was prosecuting someone who was legitimately guilty or whether it was a mistake, or whether somebody was suing the government because government contractors or government doctors, or government workers made a mistake – the government doesn’t come in to the courtroom to enforce the constitution, it comes into the courtroom to evade and avoid it. That, ladies and gentlemen, must be stopped.

This is a great moment in our history. A crowd of this magnitude on a beautiful day, in the boiling sun, in the most middle-American of great middle-American states…comes together not because the president is a democrat, not because his predecessor was a republican, not because a war is just or unjust, not because the Fed is stealing or printing – you’re here because you believe in human freedom.

It is the essence of our existence that we should be free. But remember this: the government hates freedom. It is an obstacle to every one of their designs. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."

Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."

Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the suspect] was improperly screened."

Last Thursday, December 17, 2009, The White House released an Executive Order "Amending Executive Order 12425." It grants INTERPOL (International Criminal Police Organization) a new level of full diplomatic immunity afforded to foreign embassies and select other "International Organizations" as set forth in the United States International Organizations Immunities Act of 1945.

By removing language from President Reagan's 1983 Executive Order 12425, this international law enforcement body now operates - now operates - on American soil beyond the reach of our own top law enforcement arm, the FBI, and is immune from Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) requests.

After initial review and discussions between the writers of this analysis, the context was spelled out plainly.

Through EO 12425, President Reagan extended to INTERPOL recognition as an "International Organization." In short, the privileges and immunities afforded foreign diplomats was extended to INTERPOL. Two sets of important privileges and immunities were withheld: Section 2© and the remaining sections cited (all of which deal with differing taxes).

And then comes December 17, 2009, and President Obama. The exemptions in EO 12425 were removed.

Section 2c of the United States International Organizations Immunities Act is the crucial piece.

Property and assets of international organizations, wherever located and by whomsoever held, shall be immune from search, unless such immunity be expressly waived, and from confiscation. The archives of international organizations shall be inviolable. (Emphasis added.)

Inviolable archives means INTERPOL records are beyond US citizens' Freedom of Information Act requests and from American legal or investigative discovery ("unless such immunity be expressly waived.")

Property and assets being immune from search and confiscation means precisely that. Wherever they may be in the United States. This could conceivably include human assets - Americans arrested on our soil by INTERPOL officers.

Context: International Criminal Court

The importance of this last crucial point cannot be understated, because this immunity and protection - and elevation above the US Constitution - afforded INTERPOL is likely a precursor to the White House subjecting the United States under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC). INTERPOL provides a significant enforcement function for the ICC, just as our FBI provides a significant function for our Department of Justice.

We direct the American public to paragraph 28 of the ICC's Proposed Programme Budget for 2010 (PDF).

29. Additionally, the Court will continue to seek the cooperation of States not party to the Rome Statute and to develop its relationships with regional organizations such as the Organization of American States (OAS), the Arab League (AL), the African Union (AU), the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), ASEAN and CARICOM. We will also continue to engage with subregional and thematic organizations, such as SADC and ECOWAS, and the Commonwealth Secretariat and the OIF. This will be done through high level visits, briefings and, as appropriate, relationship agreements. Work will also be carried out with sectoral organizations such as IDLO and INTERPOL, to increase efficiency.

The United States is not a party to the Rome Statute - the UN treaty that established the International Criminal Court. (See: Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court)

President George W. Bush rejected subjecting the United States to the jurisdiction of the ICC and removed the United States as a signatory. President Bill Clinton had previously signed the Rome Statute during his presidency. Two critical matters are at play. One is an overall matter of sovereignty and the concept of the primacy of American law above those of the rest of the world. But more recently a more over-riding concern principally has been the potential - if not likely - specter of subjecting our Armed Forces to a hostile international body seeking war crimes prosecutions during the execution of an unpopular war.

President Bush in fact went so far as to gain agreement from nations that they would expressly not detain or hand over to the ICC members of the United States armed forces. The fear of a symbolic ICC circus trial as a form of international political protest to American military actions in Iraq and elsewhere was real and palpable.

President Obama's words have been carefully chosen when directly regarding the ICC. While President Bush outright rejected subjugating American armed forces to any international court as a matter of policy, President Obama said in his 2008 presidential campaign that it is merely "premature to commit" to signing America on.

However, in a Foreign Policy in Focus round-table in 2008, the host group cited his former foreign policy advisor, Samantha Power. She essentially laid down what can be viewed as now-President Obama's roadmap to America rejoining the ICC. His principal objections are not explained as those of sovereignty, but rather of image and perception.

Obama's former foreign policy advisor, Samantha Power, said in an early March (2008) interview with The Irish Times that many things need to happen before Obama could think about signing the Rome Treaty.

"Until we've closed Guantánamo, gotten out of Iraq responsibly, renounced torture and rendition, shown a different face for America, American membership of the ICC is going to make countries around the world think the ICC is a tool of American hegemony.

The detention center at Guantánamo Bay is nearing its closure and an alternate continental American site for terrorist detention has been selected in Illinois. The time line for Iraq withdrawal has been set. And President Obama has given an abundance of international speeches intended to "show a different face for America." He has in fact been roundly criticized domestically for the routinely apologetic and critical nature of these speeches.

President Obama has not rejected the concept of ICC jurisdiction over US citizens and service members. He has avoided any direct reference to this while offering praise for the ICC for conducting its trials so far "in America's interests." The door thus remains wide open to the skeptical observer.

CONCLUSIONS

In light of what we know and can observe, it is our logical conclusion that President Obama's Executive Order amending President Ronald Reagans' 1983 EO 12425 and placing INTERPOL above the United States Constitution and beyond the legal reach of our own top law enforcement is a precursor to more damaging moves.

The pre-requisite conditions regarding the Iraq withdrawal and the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention facility closure will continue their course. meanwhile, the next move from President Obama is likely an attempt to dissolve the agreements made between President Bush and other states preventing them from turning over American military forces to the ICC (via INTERPOL) for war crimes or any other prosecutions.

When the paths on the road map converge - Iraq withdrawal, Guantánamo closure, perceived American image improved internationally, and an empowered INTERPOL in the United States - it is probable that President Barack Obama will once again make America a signatory to the International Criminal Court. It will be a move that surrenders American sovereignty to an international body who's INTERPOL enforcement arm has already been elevated above the Constitution and American domestic law enforcement.

For an added and disturbing wrinkle, INTERPOL's central operations office in the United States is within our own Justice Department offices. They are American law enforcement officers working under the aegis of INTERPOL within our own Justice Department. That they now operate with full diplomatic immunity and with "inviolable archives" from within our own buildings should send red flags soaring into the clouds.

This is the disturbing context for President Obama's quiet release of an amended Executive Order 12425. American sovereignty hangs in the balance if these actions are not prevented through public outcry and political pressure. Some Americans are paying attention, as can be seen from some of the earliest recognitions of this troubling development here, here and here. But the discussion must extend well beyond the Internet and social media.

Ultimately, a detailed verbal explanation is due the American public from the President of the United States detailing why an international law enforcement arm assisting a court we are not a signatory to has been elevated above our Constitution upon our soil.

Mr Gore, speaking at the Copenhagen climate change summit, stated the latest research showed that the Arctic could be completely ice-free in five years.

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

The embarrassing error cast another shadow over the conference after the controversy over the hacked e-mails from the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which appeared to suggest that scientists had manipulated data to strengthen their argument that human activities were causing global warming.

State Department says Cuba has detained US citizen

WASHINGTON (AP) - The State Department says the Cuban government has arrested an American citizen and U.S. diplomats in Havana are trying learn more about the case.

Spokeswoman Megan Mattson says the Cuban government told the State Department that the American was detained on Dec. 5. She says the American is not a U.S. government employee.

She says the department can't release any more details, including the American's identity, because of federal privacy law.

The New York Times reported Saturday that the American is a U.S. government contractor who was working on behalf of the Obama administration distributing cell phones, laptops and other communications equipment in Cuba.

How do you pass a bill that Americans don't want?

Yesterday, Democrat leaders announced they may soon bring Harry Reid's new health care bill to the Senate floor in an effort to grant the President's wish for a government takeover of our nation's health care by Christmas. This is in spite of the fact that 99 senators have never seen Reid's new bill that was written in secret. Reid even hinted he may rush to a vote before the bill's been public for 72 hours, as even Democrats have demanded.

To begin debate on this new version of Obamacare, Reid will play a shell game. He needs 60 senators to "vote to proceed" to an unrelated piece of legislation, and once he clears that hurdle he will strike that bill's text and insert his new health care bill. But don't be fooled by senators that will say they oppose a government takeover but just wanted to allow debate on health care, they are not being honest.

The simple fact is this: Any senator that votes to proceed to the Reid-Obama bill is voting for a government takeover of health care.

Why? Because, President Obama and Harry Reid cannot pass a government takeover without clearing 60 vote procedural hurdles in the Senate - but they also know that vulnerable Democrats likely cannot win reelection if they vote for this unpopular bill. So they want all Democrats to stick together on the vote to proceed, then some Democrats will vote against final passage of the bill and claim they tried to stop it.

the touted "death panels"? yep. they're in there. Federally funded abortion? Oh yes, it's in there.

It passed in the house by 5 votes.

I have a few questions to ask.
- Is it worth taking someone's freedom. Is it worth putting them in jail and destroying their lives? Folks, when you're put in jail, you no longer have a job, if you have children the government takes them too. your home? if you're renting, that's gone..you won't have money to pay the bills and pay court costs...not without that job. If you own it? how are you going to pay for it without a job? how will you get a job with a criminal record?
Is it worth that because someone doesn't have health insurance that some federal man says they need to have?
-What will you do when a panel of people decide that your loved ones aren't worth treatment?
Who will you turn to for a second opinion when its YOUR spouse that they deem not worth the effort to care for?
-What will you do when they take your children? It's not a stretch to see it happening. If you don't have "the proper health care" then of course you're not responsible enough to care for children...we'll just take your children until you comply.
Don't tell me it won't happen either.
You can say "it's not MY family", "that won't happen to me" but I say that ever man and woman in the U.S. will be everyman, the day this bill passes into law.

as for myself? I'm waiting for them to come try and Jail me for it.
if I survive that, I'm going to pay a visit to the folks who crafted and passed this bill...and I'm not going to be civil either.

I can't help but to love all of my friends like brothers...it's just the way I'm made.
My wife once described it as childlike, with a wonderous generosity and love towards my friends and loved ones..who are one and the same...and an incredible rage and fury against those I deem enemy.
still, this night I think of my friends. Those who are with me and those who aren't.

Mr. Linde, I will submit that the PHILOSOPHY of war very much different than the execution of warfare in fact. While I'm not that familiar with Boyd, I doubt very seriously that he can add very much more to the philosophy of war than Von Clauswitz,Sun TZU or any of another half dozen authors on the subject who had vastly more experience in that area as well as the accomplishments to show for it, No disrespect to the fine General intended.
I will of course, be happy to read his work, yet that isn't what startled me. What startled me is the idea of throttling our soldiers' ability to protect themselves and giving the enemy a known area in which to hide and conduct their operations.

the idea that we must (and I will paste this): apply Boyd’s insight about the three levels of war not only to the question of torture but to everything we do in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. At present, we are sacrificing the moral level to the physical in lots of ways, which is to say we are defeating ourselves. A good start would be a presidential order forbidding air strikes on populated areas and demanding they be restricted elsewhere to situations where our troops would otherwise be overrun.

On todays' battlefield, The American forces have been more than careful to keep civilian casualties to their absolute minimum. We have weapons that can track and
hit within a 1 meter grid! Yet you would tie troops hands in order to see them fail because some of the actions of warfare upset your "sensibilities".

IF their is one lesson that we should have learned from Viet Nam it is that politicians and philosophers are just that,politicians and philosophers.
The idea that morals are required to wage war is about as idiotic as the idea of a president actually dictating tactics to a general.
If this were the case then Stalin and 30 other empire builders would have failed.
War is not for philosophers nor does it require morals to succeed. It's a ugly thing and requires that a man suspend the civility that he's learned since childhood and kill other humans. Why do you think many of the great writers who have seen it first hand speak of it as one of the greatest evils?
The morals that we as Americans impose on ourselves come from our society and our wish for justice for all folks, regardless of their background.
Understand this:Air power is the ONE thing that troops on the ground can count on to win a fight that would otherwise mean their death.
The idea that YOU should dictate the terms of a soldiers' warfare to him is laughable and is the height of folly.
I submit that if you want to find some way to erase the perceived lack of morals for this war, look to the people who instituted it. Remember them? they flew an airliner full of hostages into a building a few years ago. They infiltrated a town in Afghanistan and slaughtered the inhabitants in order to draw the Americans into a fight there.
They blew up a subway train full of folks in London awhile back also. Look to the people who instituted the detention facility in Gitmo. Hold them accountable but do not ensure the deaths of our soldiers. We sent them to do a job, one that you're not willing or are too old to do. To tie their hands and ensure their deaths because you feel guilt over the actions of a few political hacks is just as wrong.

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — CBS Sports golf analyst David Feherty came under sharp criticism Saturday for a joke he wrote in a Dallas magazine article that suggested American soldiers would be just as likely to knock off House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Leader Harry Reid as they would Osama bin Laden.

“From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this though,” Feherty wrote toward the end of his column. “Despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death.”

That’s what used to happen to turncoats isn’t it? Oh well, maybe I’ll get to meet Feherty when we get sent to the same FEMA camp.

From a distance the large ship on the horizon looked like the perfect target, ripe for a successful spot of piracy.

But as Somali pirates sped toward the vessel sailing near the Seychelles Islands on Sunday, they were horrified to see two boats and a helicopter set off from their target and launch their own counter-attack.

They had failed to spot iin the dazzling sun, that the "merchant ship" they thought they were intercepting was actually a French naval ship bristling with cannons, radar technology and armed commandos.

When the three pirate boats were spotted heading toward them the frigate Nivose, one of the ships patrolling the region as part of the European Union anti-piracy mission Atalanta, headed into the sun to camouflage its true identity before turning to confront its attackers.

When the boats were close enough, Lt. Commander Jean-Marc le Quilliec sent his commandos out on outboards, with a helicopter to provide air support.

The helicopter fired two warning shots to stop the three boats from fleeing and within minutes the 11 pirates had surrendered.

Two of the attack boats were small skiffs which the pirates used as attack vessels and the third was a 30-foot mothership, used to transport supplies such as petrol, water and food.

Only one pirate was left on board the mother ship which had nothing on board except fuel and potates, according to Lt. Commander le Quilliec.

"He apparently thought the pirates had hijacked us," he said.

This deal with the GOP...its all but laughable. To kind of repeat one of my postings this morning in RR...I just don't give a rat's ass about the health and well being of any party.

To me the GOP or even the Dem party's survival is of little interest to me.

As I've said before...

"When I look at Washington's political population and the overall system in which they go about their daily business...it's sort of like looking at a pond that has grey ducks, brown ducks, blue-green ducks...and so-forth. In other words, a duck is a duck is a duck.

And if it's not apparent that Specter is just another Duck among all types of Ducks...then somebody has a critical thinking problem.

What we've been seeing for eons is a group of brown ducks ganging up on a group of...say blue-green ducks to maintain control over the resources in the pond. (Or vise-versa)

In a few years the blue-green ducks will see a new flock of blue-greens come to the pond...and they'll have the numbers to gang up on the brown ducks. (Or vise-versa)

The resources in the pond seem to continue to renew and/or even grow to make sure the ducks are well fed.

Arlen Specter (R-PA) decided to switch parties after a recent poll told him he was going to get plowed under by another Republican candidate.
Specter has been a RHINO for a long long time now..so I say to Mr. Specter this: "adios biotch! I didn't like you no ways!"
Nancy Pelosi is all agog with excitement because now the Democrats have a filibuster proof majority.
I say to her this: "you've had that for the last 2 years and look where it's gotten us."
Now the government is truly yours, democrats. After complaining about partisan behavior for so long and blaming all the mistakes on Republicans you can now say that you own it. I don't want to hear "it'll take too long to fix it"...that's what others have said and as we all know you have only as long to fix the problems as you have the public's confidence. I suggest you become more proactive because your boy Obama's popularity is dropping like a meteor.
Oh but wait! There's more! We haven't even seen the tax increases that Obama has advocated. We haven't even seen the increases that Cap and trade will bring..and you know that's coming now that the Democrats have no reason at all to compromise. I haven't even started thinking about the destruction that socialized medicine is going to wreak. *sigh*
I'll give it a year more. Even with the recession deepening, I figure the American people as a whole won't complain until they feel the lash of government taxes.
Good luck Pelosi and Specter. I intend to laugh heartily and cheer when you're run out of Congress on a rail...or, if we're lucky, run over by a bus.

For those of you who say "bad show old man! one should never wish ill of your political enemies". I say not so! You're telling me to think happy thoughts while their policies strip the food from my families' table and reduce me to penury. I take that personally.

In watching the video from the President’s power play in NYC yesterday, I was struck by the motivation for the display of power. Nothing this administration does is an honest mistake. This is why President Hussein is not allowed to speak without Soros running his teleprompter.

As Cuffy described it, he was torturing 9/11 victims. My first thought was that this bastard decided to remind the sheep who elected him who really sits in the seat of power and that they better fall in line and get with the program, or else. And, as Cranky so aptly put it, this panicking NYC population has voted for the very people who are making them far less safe, so it’s difficult to feel any sympathy for their plight.

It’s not enough for President Narcissist to run the country like his own third-world banana republic (which he learned from his heroes, Castro, Chavez, Odinga, Marx, Mussolini, et al), he has to remind the sheep and shysters in the NY financial sector that he’s the boss and that little Tax Cheat Timmy is flying a 747 around their precious infrastructure.

For the record, NYC sheep, the proper response when Air Force One flies by is to get out your Hope and Change Prayer Rug™ (you’ll find one in your government-issued briefcase), get on your knees and bow to the only “god” Obama knows - himself. Don’t make him spend more of your money on another photo op to remind you of his greatness.

Mr Pidgeon is an attorney and the attorney of record in the cause of Broe v Reed, an action dismissed by the Washington State Supreme Court as “moot” on January 9, 2009, carefully side-stepping the merits of the case brought by Broe, et al. Nothing new or surprising there. Washington State Supreme Court justices are no more or less corrupt than their equals in the United States Supreme Court. Should we be surprised that they would be too cowardly to take on AKA and the mighty Chicago machine that stands behind him?

When I read things like this, I can understand why we're buying firearms. What the politicians don't understand is that they're actually outnumbered by a pretty wide margin. The voting polls don't accurately reflect the true will of the people, probably because they're skewed. Organizations like Acorn ensured that. What politicians have forgotten or overlooked, is that without a true reflection of the will of the folks who make up this country, you may be acting at the wrong time and will overplay your hand and compromise your agenda. They may be able to influence votes but what they cannot influence, is the meat on the street. You can pass off dead dogs, deceased aunts and uncles and your pet parakeet when its time to vote but when it's time for a fight? I don't think those entities are going to help you much in dealing with the approximately 50-65% of Americans that want to treat you like an ear in a Mike Tyson fight.

Detroit has more registered voters than it has residents
Gee - no kidding. I'm shocked. Shocked I say! Well - in actuality - no. No I'm not. This is the modus operindi in Democrat hegemonies. People that don't exist, the dead, and family pets overwhelmingly vote Democrat you know! From the freep this morning is this headline: No-confidence vote on voter rolls. The only shocking part of the article is that it is written by one very liberal Rochelle Riley. In any case, some snippets:

Detroit election officials confirmed Monday what an analysis of census and population records shows: The city has more registered voters than it has residents over the voting age of 18.

He estimates that Detroit's population is about 853,000, which includes 603,000 people over 18 -- 30,000 fewer than the city reported as its total of registered voters.

"Even if you had 100% voter registration, which we know we don't have, you could not have numbers that high," he said. "Nationally, 67.6% of Americans are registered to vote. For African Americans, it's 60.9%."

Metzger estimates that Detroit's voter registration is closer to 422,000.

And you know what that means, don't you? Lt. Gov. John Cherry just picked up more than 200,000 votes for 2010! Woohoo! How about them apples? If they can just find more non-voter voters, he'll be a shoe-in! (and we'll be screwed)

Riley is correct that the problem can be traced back to the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, which took effect in 1995, (passed by a Democrat Congress and signed by Democrat Bill Clinton)and requires local officials to wait two federal election cycles before purging their voter rolls. Funny how this seems to only benefit one party...

AURORA - A local school district has suspended a member of the Young Marines youth leadership group after students saw drill props in her vehicle.

Marie Morrow, a 17-year-old senior at Cherokee Trail High School in Aurora, is serving a 10-day suspension. Her punishment could be extended at an expulsion hearing later this month.

Morrow is a student leader in the Douglas County Young Marines, a group dedicated to teaching leadership and life skills.

Cherry Creek Schools suspended Morrow after other students reported seeing guns inside her SUV, which was parked outside school while she was in class.

The school also called police, who seized the three drill team guns made of wood, plastic and duct tape. Police told Morrow to claim them in time for her after-school drill practice off-campus.

School administrators, however, were less understanding. The guns were declared "authentic representations of genuine weapons," triggering a mandatory expulsion statute in state law.

"I have never been in trouble at all," said Morrow, who is planning to attend the United States Merchant Marine Academy. "I hadn't imagined in a million years that anything like this would have happened."

Chris Proctor, commanding officer of the Douglas County Young Marines, was rebuffed in his attempt to explain the props to school leaders.

"There's no mistaking that these are not real rifles," said Proctor. "I think somewhere along the line, logic has to take over and they have to be able to make exceptions to the rules."

"Marie is one of the best kids that you could ever imagine," he said.

"I could see where the school could be freaked out about it," said Morrow. "But I think there should be some leeway with the law based on situations and realize this is just an honest mistake."

"The law doesn't make any distinction between a genuine weapon and a facsimile," said Cherry Creek Schools spokeswoman Tustin Amole.

Amole says federal and state laws mandate expulsion, and that school districts only have discretion to determine the length of that expulsion.

Asked who had the discretion to deem the props "dangerous weapons," Amole said school administrators and police made the decision based on state law that defines a "dangerous weapon" as "a firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, or a firearm facsimile that could reasonably be mistaken for an actual firearm."

Amole said the props in Morrow's vehicle caused concern among students and administrators who made an "assumption" that the weapons appeared "genuine."

Morrow's mother grew emotional while saying she hoped her daughter would continue her volunteer and service work despite the incident.

"I just don't want it to affect her view on the world, (make her believe) that people who do the right thing don't come out on top," said her mother, Jennifer McGrew. "I've always kind of really looked up to my daughter for having a mind of her own and going places that I never even dreamed."

A hearing officer could recommend Morrow be allowed back in school after her 10-day suspension or could expel her for as much as the rest of her senior year. The final decision belongs to the Cherry Creek Schools superintendent.

Morrow, who has already secured the necessary recommendation from a member of Congress to attend the Merchant Marine Academy, has been told an expulsion would not derail her eventual acceptance to the Academy.

"As long as I can get my diploma, I guess everything else will work itself out," said Morrow, who explained she's trying to focus on her planned career of service. "It's not going to be the end of the world."

Likewise, the only thing that historians can agree upon about Roosevelt is that his fireside chats were comforting while they distracted from the sub-rosa goal of turning the country towards socialism.

So, the conditions precedent to a re-release of the original horror from the '30s would be:

Wage/price controls,

To see the Supreme Court throw out the "Stimulus Bill" as unconstitutional, as was Roosevelt's National Recovery Administration, and

Have Obama threaten to pack the Supreme Court, though it doesn't appear as if threats will be required this time.

If that happens, then 2009 - 2019 will definitely be America's lost decade.

here's a picture of a firearm that I've not ever shown. This is my wife's carry pistol. Until today I hadn't had a chance to photograph it because she'd never let me get ahold of it. *grin*
this is an Iver Johnson Pony. Its a nickle plated imitation of a Colt Mustang.
One of the good things about both of these models is that they operate on recoil, not blowback.
this means that they will have a higher muzzle velocity. This is a good thing in a .380 calilber pistol, where penetration is concerned.
This particular piece was bought from a very nice fella who in turn bought it in 1978, at a Western Auto. He took it home and fired a couple of rounds through it, cleaned it and put it in his safe until last year. My wife has fired one magazine through it...and my brother did also (it was supposed to be HIS gun but my wife preempted him.) to see what he didn't get to buy because of a womans' perogative. so all in all its had 14 rounds through it. it shoots flawlessly and is pretty!

I received a phone call last week from my detailer (a temp company that hires tower hands) who told me that I was terminated.

huh?

"if you don't mind me asking, why was I terminated?"

"you're not working hard enough, we haven't gotten good reports from your work"

Now folks, this work IS hard work...but I know it. I've been doing it for almost 9 years now.

I asked one of the other old timers and he said that the manager of the tower side has been mad with me since I told them that I couldn't handle the pace of doing 1 tower a night, with only myself and another climber.
no allowances for weather, no allowances for scope of work. nothing like that.
I know for a fact that they allowed 40 hours per man (a 4 man crew) to do these towers...so we had the time.
SO...after a year of 70-90 hour work weeks, I have suddenly been found lacking.

*sigh* on top of that, the pickings for tower work has suddenly gotten very lean...

hey Obama...I'm about to be in your soup line for a little while...and don't give me that "it's not mine" line..
the Democrats have, in my opinion, purposely sabotaged the Economy and the United states so that they could "fix it" with their policies and with their own man.

I'll let you folks know how it goes and when I'm a breadwinner again.
Its a good thing my wife decided to come off the road and get a job working at the hospital! otherwise we'd be out of luck, out of money and out of doors....

Well folks, I'm sure you've all heard that Israel decided to begin offensive operations against the terrorist organization Hamas, after they called off a cease fire agreement.
In the first day or so of offensive operations 200 Hamas terrorists were killed. Today Israeli forces began ground operations. My prayers go with them.

I've been reading about the bailouts. We've bailed out the housing industry..to the tune of over 800 BILLION dollars.
Now they're talking about bailing out the big 3 auto giants. I have a few questions for you folks. help me out here...

Whats the deal with the UAW? These crooks are killing the American auto market and refuse to make any sort of concessions to save it. Why would they do that?

I don't know about you folks but I believe that unions had a purpose once...a long...LONG time ago. Now days, they are simply a cesspool for folks who want a job and don't want to work for it.

Who gave the Federal Government the constitutional authority to give OUR money to a business that contributes NOTHING to the Federal government (or us for that matter) aside from taxes?

Fifteen-year-old Kelvin Rodolph picked the wrong person to rob.

The emotionally disturbed teen walked up to off-duty Buffalo Police Officer Lamar McCulley and demanded his valuables in the predawn hours of Friday outside an East Side gas station-minimart.

When the officer failed to respond quickly enough, Rodolph raised what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun inches from McCulley’s face and again said, “Give me everything you have.”

“At that point, the officer did give him everything he had at the end of a 9 mm Glock,” PBA attorney Thomas Burton said late Friday in providing details of why he believes McCulley acted in self-defense. It turned out the weapon Rodolph pointed at the officer was a BB gun, but Burton said, “At the moment it happened, it might as well have been a cannon.”

McCulley told a close friend he was not trying to kill the teenager, but only protecting himself.

Burton said, “As the officer discharged a fusillade of shots,” he backed away and tripped over garbage cans, regained his footing and saw that Rodolph was still pointing the gun at him “and so the officer fired again.”

One of the shots struck Rodolph in the face and killed him, according to the teen’s maternal aunt, who viewed his body at the Erie County Medical Examiner’s office late Friday morning.

“I know he was doing wrong, but did the officer have to use lethal force?” Debbie Rodolph, the aunt and a nurse, said of the thwarted robbery at East Delavan Avenue and Grider Street.

It is unknown if Rodolph, who dropped to the ground when the gunfire started, was struck more than once, or if he fired his BB gun at the officer.

McCulley had completed his night shift in the South District at 1:30 a. m. and had gone out to purchase food. He was wearing a jacket over his uniform when the teenager walked up to him, police said.

Rodolph was the subject of a front page Buffalo News story earlier this year about people with disabilities in need of assistance through Supplemental Security Income benefits from the federal government.

He had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which made it hard for him to concentrate, and oppositional defiant disorder, which caused him to defy all authority figures, his mother told The News in May.

McCulley, a 26-year-old probationary police officer, ran away from Rodolph, took cover behind a Dumpster and called 911 on his cell phone at about 2:40 a. m. seeking backup assistance. Within minutes, the area was swarming with on-duty police.

Detectives obtained fingerprints from the young man to help in identifying him, but when daylight broke and the neighborhood began to stir, word of the fatal shooting spread.

By late morning, a few of Rodolph’s friends appeared at the home of his mother and stepfather on Wyoming Avenue, several blocks from the shooting, and asked if the teenager was home.

The teens said they had heard a light-skinned black teenager had been fatally shot.

Jay Burnett, the stepfather, who is engaged to marry Rodolph’s mother, Karen Rodolph, said he had not seen the teen that morning and hurried over to the shooting scene, where a friend of the family approached him.

The friend told The News that he suggested Burnett ask the officers there for a description of the youth who had been shot. As it became clear that the youth matched the description of his stepson, Burnett started screaming “that’s my son” and headed home to break the news to his family.

“Kelvin had problems, but he was basically a good kid,” said Leslie Furman, the maternal grandfather of the youth.

He and other family members made a plea to investigators in the Professional Standards Division and the Erie County District Attorney’s office to conduct a thorough investigation and not rush to judgment.

Don’t rush to judgment

They were concerned that the police department had already released a preliminary determination that McCulley had acted in a justifiable manner. Burton said at least five shots were fired by McCulley and possibly more. The clip in the Glock holds 17 rounds and one in the chamber.

“No shooting should be decided that fast. The family is pressing for a thorough investigation. I want to know why the officer had to shoot to kill? Why not shoot to maim,” the grandfather asked.

“It was a BB gun. My nephew could have fired all he wanted and it wouldn’t have hurt the cop,” said Debbie Rodolph.

“We are at the very preliminary stages of the investigation. Homicide detectives conduct the initial investigation and Professional Standards conducts a parallel investigation,” said Chief of Detectives Dennis

J. Richards, who offered assurances that all aspects of the case would be thoroughly investigated.

Richards said McCulley faced an extreme situation with a gun pointed at his head. “In situations like this, there are no winners,” the chief said.

McCulley, a Buffalo State College criminal justice graduate, has been placed on paid administrative leave, a standard departmental step, pending the outcome of the investigations.

Burton, who serves as counsel to the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association, said state law is very clear on individuals being permitted to defend themselves in a robbery.

“You have no duty to turn tail and run when someone is trying to rob you with a weapon. That goes for a citizen or, obviously, a police officer,” Burton said. “It turns out it was a BB gun, but that’s of no account because the victim of a robbery doesn’t have to learn to his disagreeable surprise that it is a real weapon.”

Rodolph was wearing a knit cap covering the top half of his face and a bandanna pulled up over his mouth and nose, Burton said.

Tragedy for all

He said the incident is a tragedy for all involved. “As long as the officer lives, the image of this will be burned into his mind, and there’s a dead kid over a botched robbery. I’d trade all the lawyering skills on earth if we could disengage the mechanics of this senseless type of violence,” he said.

Issuing a statement through relatives, Rodolph’s grief-stricken mother said her son was recently discharged from the residential unit at Hopevale, a Hamburg facility for troubled young people, and was supposed to receive follow-up care for his conditions, which also included a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which causes extreme mood swings.

“He was supposed to receive mentoring assistance. We were supposed to get the help in the last two weeks and they never came here or called,” said Furman, her father, in making the statement on her behalf.

Debbie Rodolph, the older sister of the mother, said her nephew was in dire need of help from the system.

“He needed the system to work for him and it didn’t. Now he’s dead. My sister fought so hard to get him help,” the aunt said of the mother’s battle with the government to gain benefits.

Judy Rafalski, associate executive director of Hopevale, confirmed that Rodolph had been released from the facility on Aug. 15.

“When we discharge a youth, they can go home or be hooked up with other types of services, but because of the confidentiality for the youth and family, we can’t talk about cases specifically,” Rafalski said.

She expressed compassion for the youth’s family.

“It’s a horrible thing, and we definitely extend our condolences to the family. That is just a tragedy,” Rafalski said.

Rodolph, who was 5-foot, 6- inches, weighed about 160 pounds and was of biracial background, was the middle child in a family of five siblings.

Halloween decorations festooned the front of his family’s home and a steady flow of friends showed up throughout the day to offer support and hugs as the family tried to make sense of the nightmare.

Funeral arrangements, which are incomplete, will be handled by the Brian K. Lewis Funeral Home on Sycamore Street.

He said that while it's not possible for him to promote any candidate from the pulpit, he was very much aware how the powers that be there are pulling for one specific candidate here, one wishing to "redistribute the wealth," etc. here. Those powers there want this because they know it will make America the third world country that they want it to be, instead of the power it has been. "Here we have rich and poor, but under socialism, all you have is poor." As his host said, "In America, you are proud to be Americans. Here in Russia, we want to be anything but Russian. We are embarrassed, ashamed."

Kwame Kilpatrick, the now-former mayor of Detroit, and a member of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg's anti-gun coalition, "Mayors Against Illegal Guns," pled guilty to felony charges of lying under oath and obstruction of justice, and pled no-contest to the charge of assaulting a police officer, on September 4th.

Wayne County Circuit Court Judge David Groner sentenced Kilpatrick to two concurrent terms of four months in jail and fined him $1 million. Kilpatrick, who refused to resign from the mayor's job before being sentenced, was also forced to resign. He also lost his law license and will serve a five-year probation, during which time he will be barred from running for office.

Last year, Sen. Barack Obama called Kilpatrick a "great mayor" and "friend," revered as a "leader . . . across the country" for doing an "outstanding job" of bringing about a "renaissance" in the Motor City. As Kilpatrick's legal fate seemed unavoidable, however, Obama called upon him to resign.

Iraq: What would happen if the U.S. won a war but the media didn't tell the American public? Apparently, we have to rely on a British newspaper for the news that we've defeated the last remnants of al-Qaida in Iraq.

London's Sunday Times called it "the culmination of one of the most spectacular victories of the war on terror." A terrorist force that once numbered more than 12,000, with strongholds in the west and central regions of Iraq, has over two years been reduced to a mere 1,200 fighters, backed against the wall in the northern city of Mosul.

The destruction of al-Qaida in Iraq (AQI) is one of the most unlikely and unforeseen events in the long history of American warfare. We can thank President Bush's surge strategy, in which he bucked both Republican and Democratic leaders in Washington by increasing our forces there instead of surrendering.

We can also thank the leadership of the new general he placed in charge there, David Petraeus, who may be the foremost expert in the world on counter-insurgency warfare. And we can thank those serving in our military in Iraq who engaged local Iraqi tribal leaders and convinced them America was their friend and AQI their enemy.

Al-Qaida's loss of the hearts and minds of ordinary Iraqis began in Anbar Province, which had been written off as a basket case, and spread out from there.

Now, in Operation Lion's Roar the Iraqi army and the U.S. 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment is destroying the fraction of terrorists who are left. More than 1,000 AQI operatives have already been apprehended.

Sunday Times reporter Marie Colvin, traveling with Iraqi forces in Mosul, found little AQI presence even in bullet-ridden residential areas that were once insurgency strongholds, and reported that the terrorists have lost control of its Mosul urban base, with what is left of the organization having fled south into the countryside.

Meanwhile, the State Department reports that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's government has achieved "satisfactory" progress on 15 of the 18 political benchmarks — a big change for the better from a year ago.

Things are going so well that Maliki has even for the first time floated the idea of a timetable for withdrawal of American forces. He did so while visiting the United Arab Emirates, which over the weekend announced that it was forgiving almost $7 billion of debt owed by Baghdad — an impressive vote of confidence from a fellow Arab state in the future of a free Iraq.

But where are the headlines and the front-page stories about all this good news? As the Media Research Center pointed out last week, "the CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News and CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 were silent Tuesday night about the benchmarks" that signaled political progress.

The war in Iraq has been turned around 180 degrees both militarily and politically because the president stuck to his guns. Yet apart from IBD, Fox News Channel and parts of the foreign press, the media don't seem to consider this historic event a big story.

Instead, we get headlines of small incremental US Soldier death tolls.

Citing concern about an increase in gun violence nationwide, U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk has introduced legislation to restore the federal assault weapons ban that expired in 2004.

Kirk, R-10th, of Highland Park, held a press conference Monday in Chicago about the new gun control legislation. He was joined by supporters of the assault weapons ban, including Palatine Mayor Rita Mullins, Waukegan Police Chief Bill Biang, and Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence Executive Director Thom Mannard.

Kirk said when he ran for Congress in 1999, he opposed the federal assault weapons ban expiration in September 2004. He said he's backed legislation since then to reinstate it, and this year went even further by introducing his own.

"I was surprised because the Democrats control Congress, and yet 18 months after taking office they have yet to approve this legislation and that's why I introduced my own bill," he said.

During the 10 years the assault weapons ban was in effect from 1994 to 2004, Kirk said violent crimes involving assault weapons dropped by more than 60 percent.

In recent years, he said assault weapons have been used in 20 percent of the murders of police officers nationwide.

"Just two weeks ago, there was a hostage situation in Waukegan where a man armed with two assault weapons shot over 30 rounds of ammunition at police officers," said Kirk.

No police officers were injured in the shooting, but the suspect committed suicide.

The assault weapons ban covers a host of semi-automatic weapons, such as M16s, AK47s, UZIs, and TEC-9s, as well as revolving cylinder shotguns such as the Street Sweeper and Striker 12.

Dan Seals, the Democratic opponent in the November general election, said Kirk has a mixed record on gun control legislation.

well folks. no links, no crazy pics and no long hours today.
I've been running around with my boss, chasing ghosts in the machine as well as waiting for HIS boss to do a conference call with Ericsson regarding floor noise.
What is floor noise you ask? it's interference or "static" type interference that is introduced into a signal by a few things. faulty connectors on the RF cable, unscrewed jumper wires, loose connectors and such as that.
It seems that Ericsson installed the UMTS (universal mobile telephony system) cabinets and they have quite a bit of floor noise.
since we took part in the install and are the guys that are left to fix everything, (called a tiger team), we're dealing with this issue.
Its a hard one to fix since most of our jumpers are right, tight and outta sight.
Its my personal opinion that the ericsson cabinets that have been installed have an excessive amount of floor noise on their own. I also believe that the Ericsson technicians that come to install the UMTS equipment should take the time to connect up the lines that were delivered to the cabinets instead of just leaving them unconnected so that they pump RF into the radio shelters.
I DO want kids..RF radiation doesn't do much for that......

It appears that Dennis Kucinich has decided to introduce 35 articles of impeachment against the sitting president.
Most of these are covered under the Patriot act. the other ones are unfounded as far as I know.
oh..he also blamed 911 on President Bush. What the hell? he did what??? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that guy's good for a belly laugh at least...
If memory serves me correctly, The current president was in office a whole 2 months before 911 happened.
Keep these facts in mind now, the President has just taken office. he's got a WHOLE COUNTRY to run. Usually it takes more than 2 months to get stuff straightened out. Now you have this political buffoon named Kucinich who thinks he's going to get some sort of fame points out of pulling this stunt.
Oh, he's also blamed the president for Global warming. He's pretty much blamed The sitting president for everything but having unlawful congress with a presidential aide...(wait, one of HIS boys had that covered)...

We all know that time flies and no one knows just how fast until they get a break from work long enough to see how long ago you blogged!
I've been working 60-90 hour work weeks since my last blog.

On a lighter note, I saw a tag line that you folks would probably like!

the last time I was at home, I was able to go to a local shoot-fest. there are, among the denizens of N.E. Tennessee, folks that enjoy to shoot..and some shoot some mighty interesting things...

I've been working pretty hard lately so I haven't made many posts. For those of you that check my blog every so often, I apologize!
You don't know how many times I've wanted to write something and then fall asleep before I even boot up the computer.

That being said, I wanted to post some new pictures of things that go boom!

I have been good lately, so my wife gave me permission to buy a firearm.

I saw this beautiful Uberti replica 1866 yellowboy, in .45 long colt. its a joy to shoot!

Also in the interests of portability, I decided to get something for my wife.
I found a nice little pistol that, with the addition of an extended magazine, fits her hand perfectly.
at the intended range, she can perforate a would-be attacker with 9 rounds of .32 and get far enough away to call for help.
it's made by Keltec and works beautifully! she ran 350 rounds through it today on the range with NO malfunctions of any sort!

I've heard so much about global warming. I'm amazed that so many folks are gullible..but in the immortal words of W.C. Fields : "there's a sucker born every minute."
I'm sure that some global warming blowhard/Al Gore widget will scream out about how global warming is responsible for the long cold winter we've had. I think that they're proof positive that if you shout something long enough someone will start to believe it.
AL Gore does it to make money. The Ecofreaks are doing it because they're losers and thats' the only way that they can make someone take notice of them and take them seriously.

Well folks, it seems that Las Vegas citizens REALLY like their firearms!

I had a chance to go to a gun show here at the Cashman center this past weekend.
what can I say, it was great!
I bought another magazine for my wife's Sig Sauer Mosquito, a nice drag bag for one of my rifles, 500 rounds of .45 ball ammo and a couple of t shirts. It was nice to get out for a change!

Well folks,

About 3 weeks ago, my wife took the Jeep in to be repaired. I've been gone for a bit and it's needed stuff like brakes, and basic daily maintenance stuff done to it for awhile.
When she took it in to the repair shop, they wanted 1100.00 to fix everything. She balked.
it was a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Instead of arguing with her, I told her to go get any vehicle her little heart desired....as long as it was a Jeep.

after a bit of hemming and hawing, she went to the local Jeep dealership, (it helped that we called each other and went to Jeep.com and built our own jeep...she likes that sort of thing) and picked out the exact jeep that she wanted.

we're now the proud owners of a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

For those of you who know me, you know I enjoy things that go boom.
well..a corollary intent of mine is to ensure that I will always be allowed to have things that go boom...both for personal protection of myself and my family, as well as to be able to terrorize paper targets!

and now to the rat-killin, as John Wayne would say.

Ryan horsely the co-owner of THIS establishment recently (in the last 24 months) took the BATF to court because they called .04 percent of paperwork errors in the last 5 years WILLFUL violations of federal law and attempted to take his Federal Firearms license.

Folks, I don't know if you know this, but 84% of the nations' gun-shops have been closed by the BATF in the last 20 years. Not only is it harder to find a place that sells firearms but ammo as well.
They will cite a gun-shop for willful violations and then let that shop take them to court. THEIR attorneys are paid by the U.S. Government. Its up to the gun shop owner to foot the bill for his defense and often, the delaying tactics are used to sap the owner of money so he can't pay for legal defense.
Not only that, but they seize all firearms on the shelf, depriving of that citizen his inventory...i.e. they take all his firearms so he can't sell them..he can't make anymore money to pay for his defense.
NOW we have a case that has been sent before a Judge. The complaints and arguments have been heard and they now await a Judges' decision.
In steps a federal marshal who threatens the defendant? nope..he tells the defendant to pass a message to a BLOGGER!

Its my opinion that pretty soon, they'll remove all avenues of redress by the average citizen.

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

Universal Stupidity

I've been working rather hard, so I haven't had much time to post. I was having a conversation tonight though with a young fella who, perhaps doesn't make that much money..but was voting for Hillary Clinton because he would get universal healthcare...or something named that.
That brought to mind an E-mail that a friend of mine shared on a Gun forum that I frequent.
He posted it on the forum, and I'm reposting it here, I've also posted the link (click the title of this post).

For all you folks who think you're getting something for free... I want you to remember ONE key phrase.

Got the following email today from a friend-

I saw on the news up here in Canada where Hillary Clinton was touting her new health care plan. Something similar to what we have in Canada. I also heard that Michael Moore was raving about the health care up here in Canada in his latest movie. As your friend and someone who lives with the Canada health care plan I thought I would give you some facts about this great medical plan that we have in Canada.

First of all:

1) The health care plan in Canada is not free. We pay a premium every
month of $96. for Shirley and me to be covered. Sounds great, eh?
What they don't tell you is how much we pay in taxes to keep the health care system afloat. I am personally in the 55% tax bracket. Yes 55% of my earnings go to taxes. A large portion of that and I am not
sure of the exact amount goes directly to health care our #1 expense.

2) I would not classify what we have as health care plan, it is more
like a health diagnosis system. You can get in to see a doctor quick
enough so he can tell you "yes indeed you are sick or you need an
operation" but now the challenge becomes getting treated or operated
on. We have waiting lists out the ying yang some as much as 2 years
down the road.

3) Rather than fix what is wrong with you the usual tactic in Canada
is to prescribe drugs. Have a pain here is a drug to take- not what
is causing the pain and why. No time for checking you out because it
is more important to move as many patients thru as possible each hour for Government re-imbursement

4) Many Canadians do not have a family Doctor.

5) Don't require emergency treatment as you may wait
for hours in the emergency room waiting for treatment.

6) Shirley's dad cut his hand on a power saw a few weeks back and it
required that his hand be put in a splint - to our surprise we had to
pay $125 for a splint because it is not covered under health care plus
we have to pay $60. for each visit for him to check it out each week.

7) Shirley's cousin was diagnosed with a heart blockage.
Put on a waiting list. Died before he could get treatment.

8) Government allots so many operations per year. When that is done
no more operations, unless you go to your local newspaper and plead
your case and embarrass the government then money suddenly appears.

9) The Government takes great pride in telling us how much more they
are increasing the funding for health care but waiting lists never
get shorter. Government just keeps throwing money at the problem but it never goes away. But they are good at finding new ways to tax us, but they don't call it a tax anymore it is now a user fee.

10) A friend needs an operation for a blockage in her leg but because
she is a smoker they will not do it. Despite paying into the health
care system all these years. My friend is 65 years old. Now there is
talk that maybe we should not treat fat and obese people either because they are a drain on the health care system. Let me see now, what we want in Canada is a health care system for healthy people only. That should reduce our health care costs.

11) Forget getting a second opinion, what you see is what you get.

12) I can spend what money I have left after taxes on booze,
cigarettes, junk food and anything else that could kill me but I am
not allowed by law to spend my money on getting an operation I need
because that would be jumping the queue. I must wait my turn except
if I am a hockey player or athlete then I can get looked at right
away. Go figure. Where else in the world can you spend money to
kill yourself but not allowed to spend money to get healthy.

13) Oh did I mention that immigrants are covered automatically at tax payer expense having never contributed a dollar to the system and pay no premiums.

14) Oh yeh we now give free needles to drug users to try and keep
them healthy. Wouldn't want a sickly druggie breaking into your
house and stealing your things. But people with diabetes who pay
into the health care system have to pay for their needles because
it is not covered by the health care system.

I send this out not looking for sympathy but as the election looms in
the states you will be hearing more and more about universal health
care down there and the advocates will be pointing to Canada. I just
want to make sure that you hear the truth about health care up here
and have some food for thought and informed questions to ask when
broached with this subject.

Oh Canada

Step wisely and don't make the same mistakes we have.

I took this photo in Japan a couple of years ago and thought it would be a good picture for today.
Its Wednesday...hump day. 3 more days till the weekend. (4 for me since I only take off 1 day a week mostly.)
I've been super busy lately, so I haven't had a chance to blog. I will rectify that situation soonest.

naturally, I find this offensive.
If I should choose not to participate in something I don't believe it, it doesn't matter..they will take my money...when I say take I really mean steal.
Much like our Failed social security program, they will take more of my money, distribute it as they please (more than likely much of it will NOT go to what its supposed to..that seems to be the norm in Washington) and I will have nothing to say about it.

Hillary Clinton, all I can say is that I oppose you. I oppose your ideas. Socialism is a failed experiment. I don't care what sort of dress you put on a pig, its still a pig and not a princess.
Communism doesn't seem to work that well for the majority of the people either...although for the few that are in power, it's great! Unfortunately I'm not one of those few.
Here's a warning: you can push only so far..once you've passed that line, you will run into something I like to call "the law of unintended consequences". The higher the risk the greater the consequences. You are playing with the lives of 250 million Americans.

Broken to the Yoke

well..I had 4 glorious days at home, with 2 days spent in travel.
I got to put 320 rounds downrange in my new Springfield EMP. I realized that this pistol is built to much tighter tolerances than John MOSES Browning's creation so it's going to take more ammo and a bit of tuning for me to get it to eat any ammo reliably.

My wife made out like a bandit.
Not only did she get a Sony Bravia 52" LCD hi definition TV, but I also picked up this little jewel for her.

This is a Sig-Saur ...it's .22 calibers of yummyness and shoots great! its easy to break down and has no non durable parts, unlike the Smith and Wesson 22a1 which has a plastic buffer pad.
Julie had a S&W 22a1...and I sold it just as quickly as I could, so I could get this little girl.
She's been drooling over it every time I go to pick up ammunition. I figured since I was home and it was our Christmas time..I'd get it for her.
She, of course, loves it...and shot only 100 rounds through her .45..the rest of the time she shot her mosquito...around 150 rounds.

And now, its back to work...I am well and truly broken to the yoke.
*sigh*

Sometimes, it takes a hammer.....

An About Face After Being Saved by a Gun Owner

I am one of those people who you loathe. One of those invisible people who come into your living room without asking your permission. One of those people who follow you while you shop, and make it harder for you to make legal purchases. One of those people who try and tell you how to raise your children, as if you don't know how. One of those who gives ratings to stations that promote our demise as a free nation. I am your enemy. Or at least I was.

I followed it all, all of the propaganda, all of the hoopla. Believed it too. Believed that leaving my house was more dangerous than being in a war. At any given moment one of you evil gun owners would open fire on me. I saw the NRA stickers, the Gun owners of America stickers on the cars that passed, and I thought you were all fools. I did everything in my power financially to try and help more laws pass that would prevent you from owning guns. I wholeheartedly believed that only the Police, and Military should have guns. Every time I heard of a gang shooting, or other criminal act committed with a gun, I honestly believed that if we could curtail the legal sale of guns, we could make a difference.

Boy was I wrong.

I have children, three actually, and to me the only thing more important than raising them properly, was seeing that they aren't hurt in anyway. I wanted to ban guns, save my children, save all children. No child should have to be part of any kind of death, especially the kind that involves being shot. I gave money to all of the anti gun organizations I could think of, went to the "Million" Mom March, even looked at Rosie when she spoke, and actually admire her. Brought the kids as well, and even yelled some not so nice things to those other marchers. I'm sure some of you know who I refer to.

I was on my way back from the march, on my way back to Connecticut, when I stopped off of the highway at a rest stop by one of those McDonalds they have off I-95. By this time I had dropped off two of my kids with their father, and only had my little one with me. I went into the restroom with her, and on my way out noticed two men hanging out by my car. There were only two other cars in the lot at the time that were anywhere near my vehicle. I immediately felt threatened by their demeanor, but continued on to my car. The smaller of the two approached me with a knife as I was about to open the door to put my child in her car seat. He yelled at me to get in the back of the car, they were taking me for a little ride. I obviously told them to just take my keys, they could have the car, but they insisted I get in the back. I then heard a man yelling something I don't quite recall, and saw him running towards me with a gun in his hand. The two men vanished into their car, and sped away. I stood there frozen in time, and by the time the gentleman with the gun got to me I just broke down and cried.

To make a long story short, you were all right, and I'm sorry. This man with a gun saved me, and I just keep thinking if I had gotten my wish and guns were banned, there is no telling where I'd be, and what would've happened to my daughter. The only regret I have is not getting the man's phone number who saved my life. I thanked him over and over again, and told him that he saved me, but he calmly said to me something I'd never forget. He said "That's what people like me are here for Ms., and I'm happy to have been able to help."

"That's what people like me are here for," those words keep on running through my head everyday. Maybe this gentleman by some chance is part of your group, and will read my message. If he does I would just like to say something to him, and to everyone else reading this note.

Thank you for saving my life, and to the rest of you thank you for fighting for this man's right to protect me and my child. Tell him for me that I will no longer be part of the group who invades his home, and tries to tell him how to store his guns. Tell him I will never be part of any group who tries to make it impossible for him to buy his tool he used to save me. And tell him I will never again tell him how to raise his children properly, because obviously I was oblivious to the fact that responsible people such as him know how to raise their children better than I do. I did rectify that situation the other day; I bought a shotgun for home protection, and am in the process of getting my concealed permit. Next time I will be ready to defend myself, or others for that matter. Some of my friends think I'm crazy, but they try their best to understand. I just tell them that as soon as their child's life is put in jeopardy by some criminal with a weapon that they will understand, but until then don't tell me how to live my life. I've lost some friends, but surprisingly most of them understand. If not for this man I could very easily have been killed or raped, and my child could've been taken from me, so once more I need to say thanks for saving me, and with all sincerity to the rest of you, forgive me, for I have sinned.

Christmas in January

For those of you who know me, you know that I have a love for all things that go kaboom.
My wife knows me quite well.
I've wanted this particular pistol for over a year now. She got it for me for Christmas.
for my readers who are not gun-savvy, this pistol is called the "EMP" and is made by Springfield Armory, Americas' oldest manufacturer of firearms. (I believe they began making firearms in 1794.) Its chambered for 9mm and is built on the basic design of John Moses Brownings' 1911.
This pistol is made for daily carry. Its' light and very compact.
This one came stock with trijicon high-visibility sights, 3 10 round magazines,a low profile kydex holster and magazine carrier. I'm going to the range later this week to test it out!

Oh, I also got clothes for Christmas...and my loving, caring in-laws gave me 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
*sigh* its good to be loved!

Intermission

With 3 days left till I fly home, I thought I'd reflect a little and do so through pictures.

I took this picture on the way out from Arizona, to Las Vegas.

we had to cross the Hoover dam to get to Las Vegas and while I couldn't take a pic of the memorial I DID manage to get a couple of pictures of the dam. This truly is an awesome work of engineering. to think that it was started in 1910 sobers me and makes me realize that there really is so much more that man is capable of and that ingenuity, while not a thing of the past, isn't as prevalent as it used to be, what with gadgets to do everything you need done for you.
the folks that built this dam did it with steam shovels gentle readers. Keep that in mind

Well, now on to a few personal things.
these are the guys I work with, day in and day out. A better bunch of colleagues you can't ask for.

This is Brian. Brian, like his photo is easy going in his off time. A great cook and on the jobsite, this easy going, quiet fellow works ceaselessly to complete what ever task he's given.

Here's Steve. He's the crew leader and pretty dang quick on his feet. He likes perfection and loves to climb!

I'll blog more when I can, but don't expect much for the next few days. Work is going like crazy and I'm flying home on Sunday.

Time is a Thief

Ladies and Gentlemen, all of you know that time is a thief.
for those of you who know what I looked like 20 years ago, I wanted to show some pictures of me today.

I live in some of the prettiest land in the world...amidst the Appalachian mountains in North East Tn.
here's a picture of one of my favorite places, Natural tunnel state park. Its just outside of Duffield, Va, about 22 miles from my house.

For those of you who like wildlife, we have the Bays mountain park, about 15 minutes away. The admission is about 4 dollars per car, and they have quite a few wonderful wildlife exhibits!
I personally check in on the wolfcam every week or so to see how these guys are doing.

I was lucky to catch and hold the attentions of My wife Julia, not too long ago. She's a Nurse and a fine lady. She also cooks so good that I put on 35 pounds in 6 months of marriage.
My family members used to ask me "when are you going to get married??" I would tell them "when I find a woman that I want to spend the rest of my life with".
I found that woman at the age of 38 and promptly married her. My life has been unequivocally happy ever since that day.

hey guys, remember Leon Bostic? yep. thats him, schmoozing with Julie. He came up for our wedding and was my groomsman. I am proud to have him as a friend!
What was 1sgt Carlton I. Martin thinking when they stuck us together? was it an experiement?

I still shoot as often as I can. I have several rifles and pistols and I try to keep my skills up, time permitting.
Thats about all that is going on in my little world. I get out on the weekends when I can, with my sister in law and go looking for antiques, I like exploring the hollows and going to the river in the summer time. Hiking is a great past time that never gets old around here..there's always some new nook and cranny that can be found that is too beautiful for words.
